About Us
The Abacus Learning Centre is a charity organisation that was established in the year 2008. It is recognised as the first Centre to start with the provision of ABA (Applied Behavioural Analysis) therapies that were offered at the Centre in the whole of Australia. It is an organisation that seeks to provide children with ASDs (Autism Spectrum Disorders) the best treatments in order to ensure that they get to live a very independent and long lasting life that is free from any undue health risks or discriminations.
This is an organisation that was formed when a number of parents thought it wise to provide a number of supportive services that are aimed at helping children with ASD to also have a chance at a very normal life. This is mainly achieved through the provision of supportive intensive care services on an individual basis to each and every child both at the Centre and in the various schools.
Due to the various quality care services that are provided to all children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, there are a number of children and their families who have moved from where they were previously living to Victoria in order to benefit from such services.
Our vision
It is the vision of the Abacus Learning Centre to see to it that each and every child reaches his or her maximum personal potentials even with the Autism Spectrum Disorders.
Programs of the Abacus Learning Centre
The Abacus Learning Centre provides a number of very essential programs that are geared towards ensuring that each and every child with Autism Spectrum Disorders gets to have a shot at making his or her life an enjoyable one and these programs are;
The parent training program
This is a program which has been initiated by the Centre to help give parent’s proper training with regards to how their children with ASDs should be cared for when at home. It is aimed at equipping the parents of these children with the basic vital skills that are needed in order to properly and efficiently cater for their children so as not to aggravate the whole issue. Parents are therefore taking through an hour of special training at the Centre that is specifically tailored for his or her child with ASD.
The transition to Kindergarten program
This is a program that is also aimed at making sure that each and every child who has ASD and at a very tender age is introduced into the kindergarten system in a way that will enhance the ability of the child to learn very well. This involves the provision of supportive services that are either rendered on a short term basis or given continuously through the various stages of the child’s educational life. Professionally trained personnel from the Centre are also made available to the various schools in order to help get the learning instructors to be well equipped with how best to handle each and every child with ASD by giving precedence to the particular learning styles of each and every child.
The In-School Applied Behavioural Analysis program
This is also a program that has been initiated by the Abacus Learning Centre in order to see to it that children with ASD who are in need of further educational support are provided with an ABA system which is executed on an individual basis. This is aimed at making sure that the child gets to have people who are dedicated to helping him or her to be able to learn in a way that will bring out the best in him or her.
The school support program
This is also another essential program that has been brought about by the Centre which serves as a way of providing vital support services to the various schools that these children with Autism Spectrum Disorders attend.
