It is an event that is organised periodically to help raise financial resources that are needed in improving the quality of education for children living in the remote areas of the northern part of Queensland. The Cairns to Kanumbra Bike Rides serves as an adventurous journey for each and every individual who decides to participate in it and it also helps with the raising of essential financial aids which are then given to those children who are living in the remote parts of northern Queensland and are lacking essential educational resources. This Initiative therefore serves two main purposes which are all very important to the development of a literate, healthy and active community.
How is the event organised?
The Cairns to Kanumbra Bike Rides are organised in the most exciting and fun-filled and makes appropriate arrangements for riders from the age of 15 years to 85 years and even those above. Riders are then put into groups (which are mostly referred to as packs) and every pack is provided with a leader who helps each and every member of the pack to ride in a way that suits his or her needs. There is also the periodic serving of drinks and other foods on the way and the event has been regarded as one of the best ways through which an individual can socialise and make friends easily. The entire journey is about 780 kilometres and food is provided at an interval of every 20 kilometres.
The Cairns to Kanumbra Bike Rides Team also sees to it that those who are new to the act of riding in packs are given adequate and appropriate training to help them be in a better position when the event finally takes off.
