Who we are
The Karitane Mothercraft society was the name that was officially given to this unique charity organisation in the year 1970. However, the formation of this charity organisation took place as far back as 1923 and the name used by then was the Australian Mothercraft Society. This society was mainly formed to provide proper supportive services to people living within the communities with regard to taking care of their children. It is a society that has been working with parents and the wards who are under the age of five (5) to see to it that the needs of these kids are adequately and properly met.
Our vision
The vision of the Karitane Mothercraft Society is to see to it that;
- Kids are provided with a safer environment
- Kids are given all the needed healthcare services
- Children are brought up in a more positive way which ensures their total development
These are what the Karitane Mothercraft Society wishes to create in the society.
Our objectives
The objectives of the Karitane Mothercraft Society include the following;
- To help with the creation of a society that is filled with healthy parents and their children
- To ensure that healthcare services are provided for each and every family within the society
- To help raise the quality of healthcare service provision in the society
- To be an association that is fully committed to the work that it has undertaken to do
These are the four main objectives of the Karitane Mothercraft Society as it seeks to help families with the bringing up of their children who are under the age of five (5).

The Karitane Mothercraft Society renders a number of high quality healthcare services and these have been categorised under three main groups namely;
The Karitane Mothercraft Society’s provision of services related to accommodation
This is a service that is provided by the Society to help provide proper and appropriate housing facilities to each and every parent who needs to stay at a place in order to receive certain services related to his or her child. The Society helps with the provision of places where these accommodations can be found taking into consideration the need to ensure that the cost of living in such housing facilities does not drain the family financially.
The Karitane Day Services
There are a number of other vital services that are provided under this broad category in order to ensure that parents and their kids are well catered for. These services include;
Parenting Services
This is the provision of a place where parents can go to in order to get help with regards to all the various issues that are associated with taking care of a child under the age of five (5) years. There are facilities provided by the Karitane Mothercraft Society where parents can be directed in order to access such services relating to parenting.
Perinatal Mental Health Services
This is the provision of professionally qualified individuals who are mainly task with helping parents who are vulnerable to developing any mental breakdown or disorder as a result of taking care of a child or due to the idea of going to give birth. These professionals help put parents in a better mental state which ensures that they are stable when it comes to the various issues associated with parenting.
Toddler Clinics
This is a referral service for those parents who are in need of help in order to properly cater for the developmental needs of their children. The Toddler clinic therefore provides parents with all the needed supportive services that help parents with better handling the behaviour of the kids.
Outreach services
These are the vital services that are provided for those parents and their kids who are located within places that make it extremely difficult for them to access such supportive services. The outreach service sees to it that such people are also provided with supportive services wherever they may be and not be hindered by their location.

How you can help the Karitane Mothercraft Society
There are a number of ways through which the Society can also be helped by both individuals and organisations within the communities and these include;

- Accepting to carry out fundraising activities for the Society
- Accepting to sponsor certain events that are organised by the Society to help raise funds
