Who we are
The Sids and Kids New South Wales and Victoria is a charity organisation that has been in existence for some years now and has been rendering valuable services to families living within New South Wales and Victoria who have lost a child to any of the sudden infant deaths (SIDS).
What is the vision of SIDS and KIDS NSW and Victoria?
It is to ensure that the number of children lost through sudden infant deaths in the community is greatly reduced whilst providing support services for those who might have lost a child to SIDS.
What is the mission of SIDS and KIDS NSW and Victoria?
The mission is to research and find lasting measures to the sudden infant deaths that occur within the communities.
What are the services of the SIDS and Kids NSW and Victoria?
The Organisation runs three (3) main programs and each of them is aimed at making the community a safer place where children get to grow without any incidents. These programs include;
The safe sleeping program
This is a program that the Organisation uses to ensure that parents and carers of children below the age of six (6) years are taught of proper and appropriate ways of putting children to sleep. Most of the sudden infant deaths that occur stem from the fact that they were allowed to sleep in ways which were very detrimental and as such SIDS and Kids NSW and Victoria has initiated this program to help eliminate the number of sudden infant deaths which comes as a result of the child not being put to sleep properly.
The bereavement support program
This is a program that the Organisation has in place to provide supportive services that are aimed at helping bereaved families to better handle the death of their child. Through this program, bereaved families are provided with services like counselling and financial assistance by the Organisation in a bid to help them go through such trying periods in their lives.
The education program
This is a program that the Organisation has initiated in order to ensure that people are educated about all the things that SIDS and Kids NSW and Victoria does and also to create awareness about the incidence of sudden infant deaths. There are a variety of educational activities that the Organisation has in place and they are all aimed at getting people to become aware of what SIDS and Kids does and how to access any of its essential services.
The Organisation also partners with a number of research institutions that are mainly concerned with finding solutions to the numerous deaths that occur in children who are below six (6) years of age.
